Serbian Book Corner Opened in Astana

As part of KITAP TIME 2026, the largest literary and cultural festival in Kazakhstan dedicated to promoting a culture of reading and books, the Serbian Book Corner was opened in Astana, dedicated to presenting Serbian literature and culture to the Kazakh public.

The opening ceremony was attended by Kumis Karsakbayevna Seitova, Director of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Almaz Mirzakhmet, Director of the Department for Books at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Vladimir Jovičić, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia; as well as representatives of cultural and academic institutions, the literary community and the diplomatic corps, together with pupils and students.

In his address, Ambassador Jovičić emphasised that the opening of the Serbian Book Corner represents an important step towards strengthening cultural ties between Serbia and Kazakhstan, further contributing to the positive momentum in bilateral relations.

He expressed his hope that this space, dedicated to introducing the Kazakh public to the works of Serbian authors and Serbia's rich literary tradition, will provide new opportunities for developing cooperation between libraries, publishers, as well as cultural and academic institutions of the two countries.
